Overview

This is the plainest way to see Ras Mohammed from the water. A shared boat leaves Sharm El Sheikh in the morning and makes two or three snorkelling stops inside the national park, with a buffet lunch served on board and views of the Gulf of Aqaba on the way out.

The trade-off is straightforward: the headline price is the lowest of our boat trips because the extras are not bundled in. Snorkelling equipment is not provided and the national park entrance fee is not included, so you either bring your own gear or rent it on the day.

What the day looks like

Pickup is around 8:00 am from your hotel. The park boundary is only about 10 km from Sharm, so you spend very little of the day travelling and most of it in or on the water. The crew picks the stops based on conditions; the reef is protected, which is why the coral here is in better shape than at many sites closer to the resorts.

Lunch is a buffet with a vegetarian option. Soft drinks are included. You are back at your hotel in the afternoon.

Who it suits

Anyone who is comfortable bringing their own mask and fins, or happy to rent, and who would rather pay less up front. If you would prefer everything included – park fees, lunch, and no equipment to sort out – the yacht day is the better fit. If you are not a confident swimmer, the bus trip lets you swim from the shore instead.
